‘Avatar’ Producer to Be Grand Marshal of 2011 Key Largo Boat Parade
This year’s theme is “Key Largo Imagination.” In 2009, Landau and film director James Cameron produced the science fiction blockbuster “Avatar,” which became the highest-grossing film of all time, surpassing “Titanic” which previously held that position.
Boat parade participants and spectators will have the opportunity to meet Landau and local celebrities at a 10 p.m. post-parade awards party at Sundowners, mile marker (MM) 104 bayside.
Entry to the parade is free and boat owners are encouraged to register early. There is $1,500 in cash awards and other prizes in several categories.
Festivities are to begin at 7:30 p.m. The best traditional viewing locations for spectators are along Blackwater Sound at the Caribbean Club, Jimmy Johnson’s Big Chill, Señor Frijoles, Sundowners Restaurant and the Marriott Key Largo Bay Beach Resort, all near MM 104.
