The Monroe County Sherriff's Office is looking for any information or leads with regards to a rash of boat thefts and burglaries to vessels in the Middle and Lower Keys where electronics (GPS's, tools, depth finders, etc.) have been stolen.

This is a reminder to take photos of all of your equipment and document serial numbers, make, model and any special engravings of identifiable markings on your equipment. This is imperative for law enforcement in order to be able to return your property if recovered at a later date. Help us help you. If you have video surveillance equipment, please make sure it is in working order and turned on.

A reminder:
Be altert! If you see someone acting suspiciously in your neighborhood, call the Sherriff's Office immediately. If possible, get description or license plate number, slip number for boats, and/or make of vehicle. Don't wait until the next day and don't try confronting the person yourself. In some of our investigations, if we had received a call right away, we may have been able to apprehend the suspect as he was perpetrating the crimes.
