MARATHON, Florida Keys — Targeting fine-tasting fish and priceless good times, the Dolphin & Blackfin Tuna Fun Fishing Tournament is set for Friday through Sunday, June 24-26.
The family-friendly angling event is to kick off its 11th year Friday, June 24, with a 5 p.m. captains meeting at Marathon’s popular Burdine’s Waterfront restaurant at the oceanside end of 15th Street. The event features a high-energy happy hour with complimentary hors d’oeuvres and a raffle for prizes.
Anglers are to fish Saturday and Sunday. Top prizes of $700, $350 and $200 await adult anglers who catch the three heaviest dolphin in the tournament. The top three competitors in the junior division are to be awarded $300, $200 and $100.
Anglers catching the heaviest blackfin tuna and wahoo in the tournament are to receive cash awards of $750 each.
All prizes are to be presented at a banquet set for 6 p.m. Sunday at Burdine’s.
Entry fees are $100 per adult and $50 per junior angler.
